Our Mission Today for Tomorrow

Preserve, Grow and Restore Mount St. Mary's National Shrine Grotto
We know that the National Shrine Grotto is a special place to you as it is to us.
It’s a part of you and uniquely yours because you have experienced that this mountain is blessed with the presence of the Blessed Mother in a very special and tangible way. Last year, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Grotto becoming a national shrine. For 60 years, Mary’s comforting assistance has been available to you, me and hundreds of thousands of visitors who come here each year. However, now more than ever, our families need the Mother of God. While reflecting on this anniversary, we recognize it is our mission to continue to grow awareness of Our Lady, for our loved ones who are searching for peace of soul and consolation during times of affliction. Therefore, we have embarked on a plan to create a vision to preserve the serenity of these holy grounds and to grow it as a place of prayer and consolation through restoration and growth. We invite you to become a special part of this endeavor! |
Our Lady of Lourdes Paint Restoration
As part of our ongoing Preserve, Restore, and Grow Campaign, the National Shrine Grotto recently completed repainting Our Lady of Lourdes at the Grotto Cave. The metal statue was stripped of old paint and beautifully re-coated in vivid color. We hope this makes your time of prayer and reflection at the Grotto cave even more fruitful and enjoyable. Make sure to see the renewal of the statue next time you visit. |
