Holy Mass 11 AM in St. Mary's Chapel

Saint Bernadette is often depicted in prayer with a rosary or appealing to the Holy Virgin. She was beatified in 1925 and canonized by Pope Piuis XI in December 1933. THE MISSIONARY  IMAGE OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
will be at the Grotto

All day Saturday, April 17th and all day Sunday, April 18th
in St. Mary's Chapel

Come join us during the Visitation of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an exact replica of the miraculous tilma, commissioned specifically by the Bishops of Mexico for the evangelization of America and the end of abortion.

The Missionary Images of Our Lady of Guadalupe are the only four images in the world commissioned by the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City to journey as Missionary Images on a Mission in the New Evangelization to bring conversions and a Culture of Life and Civilization of Love, for which St. John Paul II prayed. He also named Our Lady of Guadalupe as the Star of The New Evangelization.

,,,There are many images of Our Lady of Guadalupe, but the Missionary Images are the only ones in the world with this special title, mission and certification. So, these images are rare, special and extraordinary!

MAY CROWNING

Sunday, May 2, 2021
Following the 12 Noon Mass in the Grotto Cave

We honor our Blessed Mother each May in the month dedicated to her, by crowning an image of her here at the National Shrine Grotto. This is a traditional Catholic ritual which has been occurring for centuries as we recognize Our Lady as both Queen of Heaven, (Regina Coeli) and Mother of God (Mater Dei).

This year, we are holding our May Crowning at the Grotto Cave and crowning the beautiful statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, while we regild the statue of Our Lady of Grace atop the Pangborn campanile. Please join us for the crowning during the 12:00 PM Mass at the Grotto Cave. We will have, processions, hymns, litanies and more, as we shower Our Blessed Mother with love and gratitude for her many blessings.

FEAST DAY OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Thursday, May 13, 2021

HOLY MASS, 11 AM in St. Mary's Chapel

May 13 is the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three shepherd children in the small village of Fatima in Portugal in 1917.  She appeared six times to Lucia, 9, and her cousins Francisco, 8, and his sister Jacinta, 6, between May 13, 1917 and October 13, 1917.

On the 13th day of the month of Our Lady, May 1917, an apparition of ‘a woman all in white, more brilliant than the sun’ presented itself to the three children saying “Please don’t be afraid of me, I’m not going to harm you.” Lucia asked her where she came from and she responded,  “I come from Heaven.”  The woman wore a white mantle edged with gold and held a rosary in her hand. The woman asked them to pray and devote themselves to the Holy Trinity and to “say the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and an end to the war.”

And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God."
